What is the most money you have ever made from a garage sale?
I am thinking about having a garage sale. I have never done it before. I know that posting it up on craigslist and having signs around the neighborhood are good, but do you have any other tips for me? We will be selling mostly baby / toddler clothes and a few house hold items.
How much have you made from a garage sale before? Maybe I should try to get the whole block to sell stuff? Ever done that?

Craigslist is definitely a good idea. If you have a local classified circulation magazine in your area, that would be good as well. Put signs up at your local grocery store and big retail stores in the neighborhood. I’ve had a few garage sales and the most I have made was about $400. DVDs, furniture, jewelry, clothes, toys. Make sure before you do all the leg work that you check the forecast!!
Good luck and happy selling!
I dunno dude, garage sales don’t really bring in any real money. If I were you I’d just save the hassle and incidental expenses associated with a garage sale and just donate the kids clothes to a charity and give the unwanted household items to a thrift store.
In our area we have city wide garage sales. They are advertised on the radio, tv and newspapers in this area. I have easily made $300-400 from garage sales during the city wide sales. We usually sell cans of soda and snacks as well. Always prepackaged as legal concerns regarding homemade snacks are an issue.
It gets tricky doing multiple families combined because you can’t always tell whose items are whose. Unless you have really big items you will probably be able to make around 300. When you post your ad on craigslist make sure to specify that you have baby items.
i have made 300$ before just put good stuff that you think people will like out
I’ve only ever had 1 garage sale, I made $300. All I can say is advertise like mad! My garage sale was nothing but baby items, they sold like crazy.
I have had a couple of garage sales. The first one I made about $200. The last one I only made $40. I sold all the baby clothes I had at the first one. I did a whole bag of clothes for $5, but I will never do that again because people were putting shoes and toys in the bags. I did an add in the local newspaper, which seemed to help bring people in. I priced all the baby clothes at .50 cents.
$300. Every time i ask someone (friend or family) how much they made they always say “$300.” LOL
That’s what I make every single time. $290, $301, $312…
Right at $300.
I had a garage sale while my son was in the NICU. I made it for a baby fund. We ended up selling almost everything we had out which was a lot. But the real goal was to get rid of the junk so that we could make the nursery look better. So one big thing I did to make more money in the long run was I made deals such as “if you buy all of this you can get this much free…” We made over 130 dollars. It doesn’t seem like a lot but for a garage sale, it is a lot. I have never tried a neighborhood sale but there is one that I go to every year and I know they make a bundle. So that would be a great idea. Make sure it is in a warmer season though. You will have more people wanting to get up and walk around that way. Good Luck!
$300.00
