Should I have a garage sale or just give it all away?

Ren asked:

I usually have a garage sale once a year...and this year, I just feel lazy. My garage sales have brought in between $100- $400 each year.

depends on how bad you need the money….

also if you donate remember to get a receipt from goodwill for your taxes

I know how much work goes into a sale and for a couple of hundred it would be up to you if you want to spend the time on it. Giving it away is a quick, easy, good feeling way to get rid of it. Good luck!

I prefer giving it away to a tax deductable charity, that way people who need your stuff and can’t afford it get it, and you still make money back on your nex tax return.

  7. Tigger says:

Whichever you feel like doing! They all will take stuff off your hands. Freecycle will give you access to a larger audience. Garage sales will net you hard cash. And Goodwill will probably get you a tax credit, as well as putting your stuff out where it’s needed.

Have a “FREE” yard sale. It’s fun and people don’t expect it. Plus it beats dealing with Freecycle and the no shows when you have a lot of stuff.
