make sure you put down what time you start as there are freaky people that just love to rock on up at the ***** of down to beat the other bargain hunters. Make sure everything is labelled and you have lots of change.
Don’t overcharge. Be willing to barter. Have plenty of good “big” items. An ad in the local paper is helpful. Posters around your area is also extremely beneficial.
The more people you get to help, the better. I’m not sure how big of a garage sale you want but if you make a neighborhood garage sale it can be easier to get people to come and that equates to more money. =]
Put prices on everything! I **** going to garage sales and they don’t have prices! Keep everything neat. Put knicknacks and cool junk out in the front and clothes in the back. People don’t really go to garage sales for clothes, they go for junk, but they’ll look at the clothes once they’re there. Remember to have lots of change! Good luck!
Keep all your items neat and organized, if it looks like a tip people will expect to pay practically nothing for things. Try and get a friend to help so you don’t have to leave things unatended. I like to price my things the night before and put them in to piles (toys, cd’s etc so I can plan how I should set things out) so I’m not running around trying to work it all out in the morning.
Put the good stuff on ebay and take the rest to the op shop. You’ll make more money and save a whole lot of time!
Advice so far has been good. Prices on everything. lots of change etc. I would also add that you should have a free box of low value items, it’s a good way to get rid of stuff. People will take anything if it is free. If all you have is clothing donate it or bring it to a consignment shop. People really like tools and furniture. Advertise in local papers and Craigs list.
