Poker Face asked:

I have sweat pants, shirts,
belts, electronics, etc. But I am having a garage sale and Imm not sure how to price them correctly.
Don't tell me to give them to Good will please. I just need a minimum amount as to how much they sell for. They are all in good shape. No stains; you know, just like new clothing except a couple months to 2 years on them.

Thanks! :)
I meant they look like new but they're not new. They look like new but they're not new. They look like new but they're not new.

Im planning on having a garage sale soon. How do I price things? I have tons of good stuff like baby things to electronic equipment to furniture and other odds and ends. Whats the best way to go about pricing them so they will sell?

I am on maternity leave right now and am looking around the house at all the space I don't have and all the junk I do. I would like to have a garage sale but am unsure of how to price everything. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I do have big items like a wedding dress, a tv, computer monitors etc. How do you price those too?

Callie B asked:

I have lots of nice things I am putting in a garage sale, such as clothes, baby items, and household things. I want to make a lil money, but do not want to be too high on my items. What is a good rule or percentage of retail value that I should put on these like new items?

Also, it's a multi family sale. We are planning on using different color stickers for each family to make the check out easier. Any different ideas or suggestions for organization would be great. Thanks in advance.

Yard Sale Pricing Tip #25

ice_chestWhen having a garage sale, don't overprice your items.  This is not eBay.  Remember - you are selling the stuff that you no longer want - and your best friend or family member doesn't even want.

So - - The trick is to not appear too greedy - and at the same time prevent from leaving very much "money on the table".

Items should be priced at approximately 10% to 25% of the original price that you paid when the item was new.  The better the condition of the item - the more you can charge.

Forget marking items up in to the expensive collectable range - This is a garage sale after all.

Shoppers will appreciate fair pricing of your garage sale items.  Regardless of whether you believe the item is priced correctly or not - you must be prepared to haggle a bit and negotiate a deal that leaves both parties with a winning feeling.

Remember to have fun - -  This process is simply part of the thrill of having a yard sale.
